Library Workshops for Incoming Graduate Students

The Caltech Library provides workshops on data management and programming for students and postdocs throughout the year. This series of four workshops provides introductions to a variety of topics that will be helpful to incoming graduate students. More advanced workshops, and workshops on additional topics will be offered during the academic quarters.
The workshops take place ONLINE on Thursday September 22, 2022:
- Citation and Data Management (10:00am)
- Introduction to Python (11:00am)
BREAK (12-1pm) - Introduction to Pandas (1:00pm)
- Introduction to Git (2:00pm)

SETUP INFORMATION
- Citation and Data Management
- No special preparation needed
- Python and Pandas
- We will be programming in Python 3, and various environments are possible. We recommend installing and using the Anaconda data science suite of tools from https://www.anaconda.com/ for the workshop. This includes Python 3 and JupyterLab, which will be used by the instructor.

- Git
- Mac users: No special installation needed
