What & Who: Caltech Library is offering an introductory Databases and SQL workshop designed for researchers working with data. This hands-on workshop, spread over four days, will cover selecting, sorting and deduplicating data, creating subsets, calculating derivative data and data aggregations, and discussing data formats. The final session will cover accessing databases from Python programs.  

When: Tuesday–Friday, April 6–9, 2021.

Where: Online via Zoom

Curriculum:
Tue, 4/6: SQLite command line and data browser, data selecting, sorting, duplicating, filtering, and calculations
Wed, 4/7: data aggregation, joining data tables
Thu, 4/8: data formats, creating and modifying tables
Fri, 4/9: programming with Python

Daily schedule:
9:45-10:00am: Setup, discussion, troubleshooting (as needed, optional)
10:00-11:15am: Instruction (approximately 15 mins at end for optional review, discussion, troubleshooting)
